I am not kidding when I say the room was full for this premiere! There were people standing outside the room just to listen. Dare I say, this is one of my favorite pieces that I have ever written. 📝

It requires the entire ensemble to reach into the depths of themselves and claw out everything they have in them in order to survive playing it. 🎶

Did writing this piece almost break me? Yes, but it kinda had to. Inspired by rides on a particular Filipino boat, this piece has momentum with no mercy. It is fast, sharp, and dead serious. You don’t just play it, you hang on for dear life! ClarinetFest 2025 is about to find out. 🎶
